Cricket Wireless isn’t afraid to think out of the box, so it didn’t surprise me when they brought Street League Skateboarding (SLS) and the SLS Atlanta Pro Demo to Kennesaw this past Saturday, September 13.
That included an appearance by Paul Rodriguez (P-Rod), at the only SLS certified skatepark east of the Rockies. Musical entertainment was provided by DJ Drama and Rae Sremmurd during the free event.
Fans were able to meet Rodriguez, along with other skateboarders like Tom Asta, Chaz Ortiz, and Ishod Wair and skate with them.
“The skateboarding community has grown so rapidly in recent years,” said Cricket Ambassador and professional skateboarder Rodriguez, “Skateboarding brings people together across regions, ages and cultures, and it’s been great working with Cricket to give skate communities across the country something to smile about.”
Cricket brought its popular 360 experiential activation to the Kennesaw event. This allowed skateboarders and fans to demonstrate their skills and capture it on a 3D camera and keep it or use it for instant social sharing.
“The entire Cricket team is pumped to help SLS highlight skate culture here in the Southeast,” added Jeannie Weaver, executive director of sponsorships and grassroots marketing at Cricket Wireless. “We love that we’re part of elevating the sport with an event that is new to the area, and that we can bring smiles to Cricket Wireless customers and the Atlanta skate community.”
