As we were all gearing up for the countdown to 2017, Mariah Carey was ready to bring the house down with what looked to be an amazing performance. However, what really happened, turned out to be a performance that encompassed all that 2016 really was.

And in true fashion, social media had entirely too much fun at Mariah’s expense. Social media was immediately set ablaze and the flames still haven’t calmed down. To be clear, this certainly isn’t the end of Mariah’s career. As they say, any publicity is good publicity. Let’s be honest, we’re all talking about Mariah more now than we did prior to someone releasing the raw audio files from another disastrous performance she had.
Either way, 2016 ended in a bit of a mess and this performance seemed absolutely fitting. It was a big promise, awful delivery and an abrupt and confusing ending. Yep. Sounds like 2016 alright.
So let’s ring in the new year with some laughs and take a glance at some of the most hilarious reactions to Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance.

I'm choosing to believe Mariah Carey's performance was an artistic reinterpretation of the 2016 Presidential election.

The issues are being blamed on technical issues behind the scenes and there are even claims of sabotage for higher ratings. Nevertheless, after the year 2016 has been, this performance proved to be a fitting end.
But, never one to not have the last laugh, the Queen, let everyone it was all right and 2017 will go on.
