NASCAR fans sure love their smartphones and Instagram. If you own a smartphone and are among the 300 million monthly users of the popular photo-sharing app, Instagram, it’s not unlikely that Atlanta Motor Speedway has made an appearance in your photo feed. According to travel website Busbud, Atlanta Motor Speedway took Georgia’s top spot in a survey of the “most Instagrammed locations” in every state.
As also reported by Business Insider, the website, which helps travelers book bus travel in more than 80 countries, compiled the list by comparing hashtags of popular locations on TripAdvisor and then ranking them by state.
“Without a doubt, Atlanta Motor Speedway is a premier Georgia destination for events and experiences of all kinds,” said Ed Clark, AMS president. “We’re thrilled to add ‘photogenic’ to its list of accolades, and we pledge to provide our guests outstanding adventures to share when they visit our facility.”
The list highlights popular state-by-state locales ranging from national parks and landmarks to sports arenas and college campuses. Among the most camera-friendly settings, motorsports facilities took top billing in three other states. AMS sister track Charlotte Motor Speedway topped the list for North Carolina, while Austin’s Circuit of the Americas and the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway emerged as the most Instagrammed spots in Texas and Indiana respectively.
Hosting year-round events including an annual NASCAR Weekend, the Georgia State Fair, numerous 5K races, driving schools and more, AMS, located 25 miles south of Atlanta, provides ample opportunity to snap and share photos – with a fancy filter or not – of its nearly 900 acres. The Speedway itself shares photos on the site under the username AtlantaMotorSpeedway, and fans are encouraged to follow and interact with AMS for interesting photos and up-to-the-minute event information.
The methodology for this list is actually pretty solid. Using the location type and name of the popular locations on TripAdvisor across the United States and Canada, Busbud looked at which locations produced the most hashtags for Instagram posts and ranked them in every state, province, and territory.
Although it doesn’t say what other places AMS beat out in the Peach State, it’s expected that Turner Field, Sanford Stadium and the Georgia Dome ranked high on the list with other attractions like the Georgia Aquarium and Stone Mountain.
