For the last seven years, Atlanta has been named one of the most “makeup obsessed” cities in the country. Atlanta ranks right up there with Los Angeles and Miami when it comes to social media check-ins at the likes of ULTA and Sephora. There is also no denying the fact that when you are putting your makeup on, you are bound to spill a bit of it. It does not matter with how much care you apply your makeup, spilling it is inevitable. The biggest problem is when the makeup is spilled is that it can leave a strong stain on the clothes. Those stains can be messy, and it can be hard to take them out. Sometimes, you can spread it even more while trying to wash it off. In this article, I have shared a few tips that will make it easy for you to take out makeup stains from your clothes.
Use Makeup Wipes
Using makeup wipes is an excellent way of removing makeup stains from your clothes. Makeup wipes do not only work well on your skin, but they are also an excellent stain remover resource. You may have noticed it in fashion shows as well. When a model accidentally spills something on her clothes, you will see her immediately take care of it with a makeup wipe. But you also need to be cautious while using them. They work best on a fresh stain and are not as effective on old stains. Also, only use wipes when you are sure that the spill will not spread the color on your clothes. If you are not sure you might want to try another method.
Blow it Away with a Blow Dryer
When you drop a powder makeup on your clothes, it can be really frustrating. It is almost impossible to wipe it, and washing it can create even more mess. But do not worry, if you have dropped any powder on your clothes freshly, you can get rid of it by using a blow dryer. It is as easy as it sounds.
Rub It with Alcohol
Alcohol is a great agent that works extremely well for makeup stains. You can use it, especially for stains like lipstick or any other kind of makeup that contains oil. Alcohol works best against stains caused by oily makeup. Use a piece of cloth or a cotton ball, drip it in alcohol and rub it gently over the stain. If you are using it on a dress that has a light color try using a lesser amount of alcohol as it can leave a different stain behind.
Use Ice
Remember, when you spill makeup on your clothes, never was it with hot water. Because it can actually spread the stain and make it worse. Always wash the stain using cold water, as it works better for taking the stains out. But what works even better than cold water is ice. Take a cube of ice and start rubbing it on the stain. You will get rid of the stains in just a couple of minutes.
Hair Spray Can Do the Trick
This may seem surprising, but you can get rid of makeup stains by using another product on your dressing table. Hair sprays are effective on makeup stains mainly because they contain a lot of alcohol. Just spray it on the stained spot, rub it gently and wash it with cold water and it will disappear magically.
