This was the first year of the Atlanta Streetcar Pub Crawl as a result of the streetcar installation, so my friends and I wanted to check it out!
The bar crawl gives party goers the opportunity to go through Edgewood, Fairlie Poplar and the Peachtree Corridor districts via the new Atlanta Streetcar, and have some delicious drinks at some historical and modern bars in the area. To me, it almost felt like I was going right where I left off when I was at Edgewood last, so I was pretty excited.
We went to Music Room to pick up our wristbands, and that was where we got our first drink. It was a shot of what tasted like Fruit Punch and vodka. Pretty good, reminded me of college minus some of the bad decisions. Thought it was a good start to a fun day out.
A couple of the guys backed out from getting wristbands and decided to get food at Noni’s, so we met up with them later, our next stop was Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar.
My first impression was: I want to eat here everything looks so good. But we were there for drinks so we got our comped drink, which looked like a Blue MotherF*****. It was a sweet punch of blue raspberry and a LOT of alcohol. Definitely a drink, if you know what I mean. As we watched Harold’s fill up quickly, we decided it was a good idea to go to our next stop: Noni’s.
Noni’s is beautiful on the inside. We go there and found our friends eating lunch while we got our next set of shots: what tasted like a version of sex on the beach. Can’t go wrong with that. We got those shots, and I got two of us Irish Car Bombs. It’s St. Patrick’s Day, you must have at least one of those.
We finished up our food and headed out to the bars near Peachtree Center. It was a little nostalgic for me since I used to work in this area. I showed my friends my old office as we walked past on our way to Meehan’s. I only had been in the Meehan’s in Atlantic Station, so seeing this one was a little surprising because it was tiny. But as is everything in the big city.
Once we got in, the special was green beers and streetcar shots. I gave my comped tickets to my friends, so I ended up paying for the shots. They were decently priced anyway, so I wasn’t mad.
The shots were Jaeger bombs essentially, and it didn’t click with me until after we took the shots. Luckily I write this not super hungover, and I didn’t black out or drunk cry last night, so my first encounter with Jaeger since my freshman year of college was successful.
Anyway, we ended up at the Peachtree center because we had another affair to go to that evening. But for the first ever Streetcar Pub Crawl, I say it was successful. They should have more pub crawls more often to help advertise the streetcar, which would help all parties in my opinion!
