Last night was the Atlanta Wine Party at Opera Nightclub. Unlike the large amount of beer festivals that fill up Atlanta’s social calendar, the wine party was a classier affair.
One of my great girl friends and I went together as a “lady date” and had a blast. The party itself showcased 50 different types of wine for a regular ticket holder, and an extra 15 wines if you were VIP. We were VIP, but we wanted to scope out the entire party, so here were some of our favorite wines there.
Main Room:
Seaglass Pinot Noir: I try to like whites, but I’m a red wine kind of girl. This was definitely a good one to have. It was kind of in the middle between sweet and dry. After talking with the bartender, this is on the more affordable side without the cheap taste. I do love me some Barefoot (ha!) but this will be a good alternative for my everyday wind down drink.
Aviso Prosecco: This was the only Prosecco at the place, so I had to get it! Not like a little bubbly to kick off a good night. It was very light and airy, kind of reminded me of springtime. It had a soft finish making it very enjoyable to drink. Also was a good palate cleanser as we went over to the Venetian Room afterwards.
Thorny Rose Red Blend: This was the first wine I had, and definitely a good starter. I hadn’t heard of Thorny Rose before last night, and I’m glad I had it. It was a smooth and sweet red blend. It was a pretty garnet color, and it was a nice fruity finish. Definitely a good summer wine, I’d put it in a sangria!
Venetian Room:
Cambria Pinot Noir: This one was my favorite. Not too dry, not too sweet, but all smooth. This was a wine that I could see myself having on Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend. It was earthy but it had a pomegranate undertone, which I really like.
Patio:
Torres Sauvingon Blanc: One of the few whites I like. To me, when I think of white wine I think of the many college days where I’d drink bottles of Barefoot Riesling. So I’ve kind of outgrown it. This was silky and tropical, so it’s a good summer drink. I’d drink this on the beach.
VIP:
Anthology Pinot Noir: This was my VIP wine of choice. I had this and another Cabernet Sauvingon, which was a lot lighter in color and interesting so Anthology was the clear winner. It was dark and robust, like a good dark coffee. To me, it was the earthiest of the wines I’ve had, which was a nice change from the light, floral wines I had before.
The Atlanta Wine Party is something I recommend to everyone. It’s more than just a girls’ night kind of thing. It’s also a single guys’ paradise because you’re surrounded by girls drinking wine and checking out the cute guys that are already there. And yes, there was lots of eye candy last night.
The wine party quickly became a dance party as the night went on. We left around 10pm and made our way home. It was easy for us to get an Uber back to my side of midtown. I would go to this again.
