DC White hails from the Washington D.C. area but now lives in Atlanta to pursue the bustling music industry. While being in Atlanta, DC White has linked up with Jose Guapo, Hoodrich Pablo, DJ Scream and more. Recently, he released a new mixtape called, “Breaking Bad” and we had the pleasure of asking him a few questions before his mixtape released.
What’s the Breaking Bad mixtape about & what does it mean to you?
“Breaking Bad” is a Trapaholics Edition mixtape of the well known Dj Trapaholics. I felt like it was something nobody in Washington DC has done yet, so let me be the first to do it especially since I’m in the trap music lane. Breaking Bad was the theme for the tape just based upon my name and when the show came out, folks started calling me Walter White as a joke.
How does the DC music scene differ from Atlanta?
It’s very different only because of the history. DC hasn’t been in the rap game for a long time, Wale kicked the door open for our city. Atlanta has Outkast from 20 years ago so it’s like they been had the music light on them, the best producers and engineers are all in Atlanta. I feel we will catch up just a matter of time. Everybody love our city (DC) believe it or not.
Who’s your favorite rapper?
I would have to say Jay-Z. I kind of grew up on him, now that I’m older I feel like he had the best message to motivate you to do better than what you were accustom to.
