Another record year in the books!
The south’s biggest pop culture, fantasy, sci-fi, and gaming convention roared through the streets of Atlanta Labor Day Weekend. The 33rd annual Dragon Con pulled in a record crowd of 85,000 fans throughout its 5-day session! It seems almost procedural reporting another record-breaking crowd at this point, but it’s a testament to everyone involved in producing/growing this massive celebration.
“Dragon Con 2019 was another terrific success. For many of our fans and guests, Dragon Con gave them five days to escape the real world and embrace the things they love with friends from around the world,” convention co-chair Rachel Reeves said.

One of the best things about coming to Dragon Con is discovery. From walking into random panels and ballroom parties to learning how to play board games, seeing your heroes in parades and meeting some of the nicest vendors/people. Seriously, where else could you go and stumble upon the actual screen-used scepter of Loki or the actual infinity stones from the wildly successful, and Georgia-filmed, Infinity War/Endgame saga?
Another positive for Dragon Con is the charity aspect. Each year they are responsible for helping various charities across the state of Georgia. This year the convention raised more than $110,000 for its official 2019 charity, American Heart Association’s Georgia affiliate.
Next year’s celebration will be from September 3-7, but until then, take a glimpse at some of the highlights of 2019 below.
