The official start of Fall always start with the September equinox, which is around the 22nd. During the fall, it is the best time to go out and experience different festivals and activities around Georgia before the inconsistent weather of winter begins. From fairs to haunted houses, there are many things to do in Georgia. Here are some of the best events to go participate in during the fall.
1. Oktoberfest
Where: Helen, GA When: September 11th – 15th; September 18th – November 2ndBasically the biggest celebration to go on in little ol’ Helen, Ga. The 44th annual Oktoberfest will be full of German music, dancing, food and drinks! Better brush up on your Polka, Waltz, and Chicken Dances because you will not escape it.
2. Taste of Atlanta
Back for its 13th year, Taste of Atlanta is back with all types of flavor for anyone’s taste buds! With 90+ restaurants, 4 live cooking stages and VIP experience this is one of the best fall events every year.

3. Mountain Moonshine Festival

4. Savannah Food and Wine Festival
Bringing out the best cuisine and wines of Savannah with appearances by celebrity chefs from around the Southeast, this is one of the biggest festivals in Georgia. If you’re a food and wine connoisseur, this is an event you do not want to miss.

5. Georgia National Fair
The Georgia National Fair is by far the largest fair in the state of Georgia. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, go check out its big attractions and a performance by Lady Antebellum!

6. Fall Family Fun Days at The Rock Ranch
The farm that Truett Cathy built. One of the most down to earth place that we’ve visited and had a great time! Check out the different events that are going on there and go visit!

7. St. Simons Food and Spirits Festival
This unique 5-day festival returns in its 3rd year celebrating the culinary culture, artistic lifestyle, lively spirits and southern hospitality. With talented chefs and mixologist, locally and regionally, expect to have a good time with the locals and tourists there!

8. Great Miller Lite Chili and BBQ Cook-Off
The 35th annual will return, bringing its average 15,000 attendees plenty of delicious chili and BBQ. Pit masters from all over will meet in Conyers to compete for the best chili and BBQ recipes. Along with the food is plenty of live music, games and activities for all ages.

9. Stone Mountain Park – Annual Pumpkin Festival
One of the best family events in Georgia, the Annual Pumpkin Festival is one that can keep kids entertained during the fall. Go and enjoy the cool weather and fall colors while participating in different events!

11. A3C Hip-Hop Festival
An all hip-hop festival in Georgia, where artist from all over come to perform. With 34 featured acts from big names like Atlanta’s own B.o.B, Young Dro, Rocko, 2 Chainz, and Cyhi The Prynce to other big names like Bun B, Juvenile, Scarface, and Twista; this will be one of the most energized events during October.

12. Pumpkin Patches & Corn Mazes
Go to the most rural parts of Georgia (which there is plenty of them) and you will find a corn maze or pumpkin patch. Make sure to not get lost in the corn maze though! If you’re up for it, go the The Rock Ranch and you could possibly go see the pumpkin cannon!
