STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) –
A Georgia Southern University student collapsed in a class Thursday and died at a nearby hospital.
According to a statement by the university, Cory Wilson, 21 and a junior management major from Savannah, collapsed in class and was rushed to East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro and was pronounced dead.
The university statement said a cause of death had not been determined, but preliminary investigation showed no signs of foul play. Counselors will be available to students through the university’s Counseling and Career Development Center.
Georgia Southern officials said in a statement: “The entire Georgia Southern family is deeply saddened by this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends during this very difficult time”.
