A Georgia Tech student has been killed after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 85.
Kaden Campbell, a first-year undergraduate at Georgia Tech and pledge of the university’s Sigma Nu fraternity, was declared dead at the scene.
Officers said a preliminary investigation says Campbell may have been attempting to cross at where I-85 southbound meets northbound Interstate 75.
“On behalf of Georgia Tech, we extend our deepest condolences to Kaden’s family and friends who are coping with the shock, confusion, and grief resulting from this tragedy,” Georgia Tech’s Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Life John M. Stein wrote in a letter.
Stein said that staff at Georgia Tech’s Counseling Center are available to “support our community during this time of loss and grief.”
The Atlanta Police Department’s traffic unit is investigating the accident’s details.
