I went to Georgia Tech, I don’t own any red (except for when I went to the Craft Box Girl’s tailgate at the UGA-Alabama game), and I’m a Yellow Jacket fan through and through.
I don’t know what the heck happened on Saturday. It was definitely the Miracle on Techwood Drive.
It’s hard to be a Georgia Tech fan. We have the moodiest of seasons, we may blast through teams one weekend and then barely show up another weekend. It’s hard on the eyes, and hard on our blood pressure. So it was standard to go into the Florida State game with our expectations pretty low.
During the game, it was low scoring, and we were trailing behind by not a lot. At first, most people were pretty happy that we weren’t getting blown out by the ACC titan. I was happy that we were only losing by a single digit number instead of the expected 20 plus gap.
Throughout the game, there were points of cheering, and points of the entire bar yelling “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?” Which is to be expected out of Georgia Tech, we have our moments.
Then the fourth quarter happened.
We tied up the game, and our hope was that we would keep the game tied and go into overtime. Which was a great achievement for us to begin with. We were happy no matter what in our team, and once Florida State set up for their field goal in the last few seconds, we were drenched in sadness because our hopefulness was gone.
The last few seconds of that game were the most nerve-wracking, and most triumphant I have seen through Georgia Tech this season. It was one of the best games to shake off our 5 game losing streak. I could not be happier with our team.
