We love Everything Georgia, small businesses in Georgia, and especially love Georgia’s craft breweries. We’re thankful to have made friends with the founders of Pontoon Brewery this year and congratulate them on reaching their one-year anniversary. Wednesday night, we joined owners Eric and Eddie as they celebrated their significant feat and introduced their newest seasonal brew, the Cinnamon Spice Porter.
The Cinnamon Spiced Porter “is a traditional English style Porter with a touch of Cinnamon for a spicy holiday aroma. A combination of marris otter malt, munich malt and chocolate malt, comes a rich and inviting chocolate appearance with a light bodied mouth feel. The head provides an airy caramel cap that boasts the full cinnamon aroma. Treated water creates the flavor similar to an English style Porter that finishes dry. The smooth cocoa flavor is only enriched with a mild cinnamon flavor. Best when served at 40-42 degrees to enhance the chocolate and smoky notes.”
Considering Georgia’s laws that make it more difficult for craft breweries to reach end users, it was delightful to see each of Pontoon’s four brews on tap at THERE, Brookhavem’s Gastropub. Many close friends sporting Pontoon paraphernalia came out to support the young brew masters and enjoy the festivities.
Though Pontoon is currently brewing their beers in Greenville, South Carolina, they’re based out of Atlanta, GA and are working towards opening their own brewery here next year! If you’re looking for something to do off Peachtree St. NE December 29th -31st, make a stop by Publik Draft House and have one of Pontoon’s brews. Support Georgia’s craft breweries!
