Tournament field made up of 81 PGA Champions Tour professionals.
In less than a month, the Greater Gwinnett Championship, Presented by Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating, an official event on the PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour will invade TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth.
A great field is expected for the 54-hole stroke play golf tournament that offers a $1.8 million purse. Many of these same pro will be playing in Augusta the week before, so it’s an easy drive to Duluth to play Sugarloaf.
The 2015 Greater Gwinnett Championship will take place April 13-19.
World Golf Hall of Famers Nick Price, Colin Montgomerie, and 2015 inductee Mark O’Meara will play TPC Sugarloaf, along with PGA TOUR greats Mark Calcavecchia, Lee Janzen and Tom Lehman. The current player field boasts 288 PGA TOUR victories and 21 Major Championships.
Janzen is coming off his first Champions Tour win at the ACE Group Classic in February. O’Meara, who will be inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame in July, is currently 2nd in the Charles Schwab Cup rankings with two top-three finishes in the first four tournaments of the 2015 season. Montgomerie is currently 7th in the Charles Schwab Cup rankings with three top-ten finishes.
The popular Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain is the defending champion.
All three official rounds will be nationally televised on the Golf Channel. Recipients of this year’s event are Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation.
