UPDATE
Today Governor Deal announced that several new counties have been added to the state of emergency ahead of the coming winter storm. The governor office says that 24 more counties can be added to list soon too.
The new list:
Banks, Catoosa, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Franklin, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, Walker, White and Whitfield.
Governor Deal has also ordered all state government to close tomorrow at noon. As you can see he wants no repeats of 2 years ago, “In order to prepare for the second round of storms, I’ve directed state agency heads to encourage empress to telecommute where appropriate”, Deal says.

As most of you know today was a very frigid day in Georgia. So much, that Governor Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency for 15 counties under a winter storm warning.
These counties are:
Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Chatooga, Whitfield, Murray, Gordon, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin and White Counties.
Meteorologist have predicted snow and ice for Wednesday morning, there will be a lot of accumulation on roads and bridges in these affected areas.
“Safety of our residents is my top priority. I’ve directed the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security to coordinate with the Georgia Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Natural Resources to move assets to area where snow and ice are expected. GEMA/HS will work with local officials, including those school systems, to ensure resources are available as needed.”
