Thousands of people swarmed the downtown streets of Atlanta last weekend for the annual culture concert known as “Birthday Bash.” For years, this has been the go to summer concert for rap & hip-hop fans in Atlanta and this year did not disappoint either!
107.9 and Heineken threw a twist on the annual event naming 2017’s iteration the “POP UP Edition.” Fans got an unexpected surprise as a slew of artists, that could not be announced because of contractual agreements, graced the stage at Philips Arena. Headliners ranged from Gucci Mane, Migos, Fat Joe & Remy Ma, YFN Lucci, B.O.B., DJ Luke Nasty, D.R.A.M and Lil Uzi Vert.
However, staying true to Atlanta, hometown artists such as Playboi Carti, Lil Yatchy, Young Dolph, 2 Chains, 6lack and many more represented for the “A.”
But wait there was more!…
Tee Grizzley, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj all made an appearance as well. This is where the current feud between Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma took new heights. Nicki came out as a surprise guest and took no time to perform her Remy diss tracks “No frauds” and “Make Love” in reply to Remy’s earlier performance “shETHER.”
All in all, the sold out arena was filled with palpable good vibes. Another check mark in this storied concert’s history books. A general excitement and good turn up that we’ve come to expect from Birthday Bash. Check out our video recap BELOW!
