For over 70 years, Atlanta Checker Cab has been leading the way in transportation around Atlanta. That trend continues in 2017 and continues to 2021 with a half electric cab fleet on the way.
“We are excited to launch the first stage of Checker Cab Company’s plan to electrify more than half of its fleet in the near future,” said Rick Hewatt, President of Atlanta Checker Cab. Co. “We have a long history of commitment to alternative fuels, and with the rapid advancements of electric vehicles, this is a natural evolution. It’s better for the environment, better for drivers and passengers, and better for business.”
Atlanta Checker Cab Company is partnering with Georgia Power Company to deploy Georgia’s first all-electric taxis within its fleet.
As part of the initiative, Atlanta Checker has deployed two all-electric Nissan Leaf vehicles as part of its fleet. The move is a critical first step toward Checker Cab’s plans to move half of its fleet 100% electric, zero-emission vehicles by 2021.
Passengers have the choice as they can specify their preference for an electric vehicle by ordering through the Checker Cab mobile app, booking a taxi online at www.AtlantaCheckerCab.com, or by calling the company’s 24-hour dispatch center at (404) 351-1111.
The company partnered with Georgia Power’s “Will-It-Work™” program to assess sustainability assessment, monitor performance, collect data and provide reporting to evaluate the electric vehicle integration into the fleet. The program provides weekly summaries on vehicle route performance, charging frequencies, operating costs and environment impact. To learn more visit http://www.GeorgiaPower.com/EV.
