Atlanta-based singer, Janelle Monae, is enjoying ‘Hidden Figures’ hanging out in the No. 1 spot at the box office. Even more so, she is taking a page out of co-stars Octavia Spencer and Taraji P. Henson’s book and is set to have a free screening tomorrow (Sunday) at AMC Southlake in Morrow. The screening will start at 2 PM and the tickets will be given out first-come, first-serve.

With a budget of $25 million, ‘Hidden Figures’ has made an impressive $72.4 million and that number is expected to continue to climb.
The initiative to have the film accessible to all who want to see it is admirable. Just this last Saturday, Black Girls Code hosted screenings all over the country so that young women could see the story of Ms. Katherine Johnson, an African-American mathematician who was enlisted to help calculate flight trajectories for missions like Project Mercury.
