There was a small blurb that made it around the various news outlets about Dawson, Georgia (near Albany, GA) mayor Chris Wright being shot multiple times on Halloween night. It was initially reported as a home invasion. And then promptly forgotten by most that don’t live in the area.
However, all is not what it seems or is reported in that little town.
There is a long history of political corruption in Dawson. Mayor Wright is a young black man in his early twenties who was elected into office with the idea of changing his city around for the better.
As reported in The Albany Herald the police chief of Smithville even asserts that the previous mayor still has a hand in all things Dawson. No surprise, really, to residents of Southwest Georgia. And then Mayor Wright gets shot five times that night. I believe the shooting was politically motivated. Apparently so does Mayor Wright.
Furthermore, the Dawson city council voted overwhelmingly 4-2 to deny Mayor Wright police protection. His shooter or shooters is still at large.
I don’t know Mayor Wright personally. I’m a resident of Albany, not Dawson so I have no personal agenda … no other stake in this other than seeing an injustice and being genuinely concerned about Mayor Wright’s welfare.
How are young men supposed to change the world if cities like Dawson are teaching them that they quite literally are expendable?
Please look into this (everything I’ve said can be independently confirmed through local Albany news outlets) and shine a light on this heroic young mayor.
