On Sunday, April 13, Hennessy V.S hosted an intimate brunch at the Ingleside Inn in Palm Springs during Coachella weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nas’ legendary “Illmatic” album. Nas performed tracks from the album at Coachella on Saturday night to a packed crowd that spanned generations, where friends such as Diddy and Jay Z took the stage to toast the lyrical master on his album’s anniversary.
Nas is the current face of the Hennessy V.S “Wild Rabbit” campaign. The Wild Rabbit represents the inner drive that urges us to continually push the limits of our own potential. For Nas, this relentless determination has led him to countless achievements in music, business and beyond.
Guests of the desert party were treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the “Time is Illmatic” documentary trailer, co-created and produced by Illa Films producers, One 9 and Erik Parker. “Time is Illmatic” delves into the making of Nas’ 1994 debut album, and gives fans a look at what fuels Nas to continuously innovate and push himself from Queensbridge to the world’s stage. Of the documentary, producers feel it’s “…truly an honor and a privilege to share the story of ‘Illmatic.’ His story has become our story. We are inspired by Nas’ drive to represent something greater than himself and his commitment to be a truth-teller in everything he stands for.”
“Time is Illmatic” will open this year’s Tribeca Film Festival on April 16.
Throughout the afternoon, party goers relaxed poolside and sipped Hennessy mixed drinks, including the Desert Cooler, as they took in the sounds of producer and DJ, Jermaine Dupri.
Guests in attendance included Nas, producer and DJ Jermaine Dupri, actors Damon Wayans and Lance Gross, actress Eva Marcille, model Karrueche Tran, rapper Romeo, hip-hop duo Los Rakas and street artist Mr. Brainwash.
