Sounds believable but unfortunately not true. There’s been a satire trend going on Facebook about big name celebrities moving to small towns to generate clicks.
Some names including singer Justin Bieber, actors Tom Cruise, Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey. Most of the postings came from websites — Headline Brief and McKenzie Post, both tabloid sites geared to trick social media users for click-bait.

“If you’re not from Atlanta, Georgia then you probably haven’t heard of the town of Madison unless, of course, you’re Oscar winning Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey. Mr. McConaughey announced in an interview yesterday that he is moving to the small, quaint town of Madison, located about an hour drive east of Atlanta. “I like Georgia and I like the people there. The people there are real. They’re genuine and I don’t have to question their sincerity and I think it would be a hell of a great place to raise my family.”
We’re told that Mr. McConaughey discovered the town while driving through the area not long ago and apparently fell in love with the small town and the state of Georgia. We’re not sure what the residents of the town will think about his move there but we imagine he’ll be received with a warm welcome. If nothing else, having such a famous resident will undoubtedly be a bit of an economic boon for the town.
There was no word on whether Mr. McConaughey would be selling his home in Austin, TX or if the home in Madison would be his full time residence.”
Although sad to hear, don’t believe the hype!
