The field includes six players competing in this week’s Masters Tournament in Augusta and seven members of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Get ready for some great golf in Gwinnett. Where the Masters leaves off, the action continues with the PGA Tour Champions. Tournament officials this week announced the final playing field for the 2017 Mitsubishi Electric Classic. This elite roster of 78 players, headed to TPC Sugarloaf April 10-16, features 29 major championship winners, representing a combined 67 professional major titles. The field also includes 18 of the top-20 from the 2016 Charles Schwab Cup points standings and 17 of the top-20 from the current Charles Schwab Cup money list.
Six players from the Classic’s field are making a stop at Augusta National this week to compete in the Masters before traveling west to Duluth. All six – headlined by reigning Charles Schwab Cup champion and 2013 winner of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, Bernhard Langer – own at least one famed green jacket. Langer is joined in Augusta by Sandy Lyle, Larry Mize, Mark O’Meara, José María Olazábal, and Ian Woosnam.
The World Golf Hall of Fame will also be well represented next week for the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. Seven members of the esteemed Hall will be competing at TPC Sugarloaf, including Tom Watson, Larry Nelson, Langer, Lyle, O’Meara, Olazábal and Woosnam. Long hitter, John Daly also makes his Mitsubishi Electric Classic debut this coming week.
