The 33rd annual Dragon Con is under way!
The highlight for many people, myself included, is the annual parade that takes over the streets of Atlanta. Thousands of people, attendees and passerby’s alike, lined up on the sides of streets, parking decks and rooftops to cheer on hundreds of cosplayers braving the Georgia heat.
It’s really a mixture of both the initiated and uninitiated watching a group of enthusiastic people, marching down the streets and showcasing their hard work. It also serves, in my opinion, as a way to possibly stoke the flames of a person who was unsure whether or not they should take that leap into Dragon Con fandom.
While the parade has naturally grown in stature every year, at its core it remains all inclusive trip of excitement, sometimes nostalgia, wonderment and flat out joy. I still contend it’s some of the best free entertainment in the City of Atlanta.
