An exciting week of golf and events are underway at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth.
Two premier community events and a major announcement kicked off an exciting tournament week for the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. On Monday, the Georgia United Credit Union Executive Women’s Day and the Matt Ryan Celebrity-Am Classic brought crowds out to TPC Sugarloaf.Atlanta Falcons all-pro quarterback Matt Ryan teed the day off at TPC Sugarloaf, hosting the Matt Ryan Celebrity-Am Classic benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Ryan and local Atlanta sports stars such as Brian Jordan, Warrick Dunn, and D.J. Shockley were paired with amateurs competing for awards such as longest drive and closest to the pin. The winning team, led by former Atlanta Braves pitcher Greg McMichael, included Heather Farag, Maria Bengtsson, Margaret Shirley, and Julie Bartholomew.
The Infinite Energy Forum hosted roughly 200 local female business leaders for the Georgia United Credit Union Executive Women’s Day. Attendees enjoyed the keynote address from Molly Fletcher, one of the most successful sports agents in the industry, as well as a panel discussion featuring Carrie Kurlander, vice president of public relations for Chick-fil-A, Melissa McGhie Proctor, chief marketing officer for the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena, and Pamela Stewart, vice president of retail sales for The Coca-Cola Company. Afterward, groups headed to TPC Sugarloaf for a behind-the-scenes tour and wine-down networking event sponsored by Primerica.
Also, the Novelis Celebrity Challenge announced its field of celebrity golfers for its annual grouping on Saturday. Current Arizona Cardinals punter and former University of Georgia star Drew Butler will join two legendary Atlanta Braves pitchers, John Smoltz and Tom Glavine, in teeing it up in one of the final groups of round two on Saturday.
Pro Ams were held on both Wednesday and Thursday as amatuers played alongside the professionals under tournament conditions at TPC Sugarloaf.
