Once we get through this patch of winter weather, it’s time to start thinking warm thoughts and all that Reynolds Lake Oconee offers. Barely an hour driver from Atlanta, there is more going on at Reynolds Lake Oconee than meets the eye.
Win a Round with Stewart Cink
PGA Tour star, British Open Champion, and five-time U.S. Ryder Cup team member, Stewart Cink, is one part of a dream golf contest offered by Reynolds Lake Oconee.
The winner of the “Reynolds 360 with Stewart Cink,” which begins today and continues through March 8, 2018 receives a complete immersion experience for two at Reynolds Lake Oconee, the award-winning golf and lakefront destination between Atlanta and Augusta, Georgia.

Cink, the popular six-time winner on the PGA Tour, is a resident of Duluth, Ga., roughly 80 miles from Reynolds Lake Oconee. An outdoors enthusiast, he enjoys boating and water sports, which makes him an ideal partner during a trip to the luxury golf community located on 19,000-acre Lake Oconee.
“This is an amazing opportunity to play golf and explore the many outdoor options at Reynolds Lake Oconee,” Cink said. “This incredible vacation is going to be a lot of fun.”
Home to one of the most diverse collections of elite courses in the United States, Reynolds Lake Oconee is one of only 11 golf resorts in the country to earn the prestigious Platinum Medal from GOLF Magazine. The six distinctive designs, fantastic lodging and dining options, and magnificent lakefront location have firmly established Reynolds Lake Oconee as one of the nation’s premier golf and lakefront destinations and communities.
Reynolds Lake Oconee is also home to The Reynolds Kingdom of Golf presented by TaylorMade, which is one of the only facilities in the country where recreational golfers can receive professional instruction, be fit for new equipment in the same elite environment used by Tour professionals, and have their equipment built before their very eyes.

The Sporting Club
Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds made it’s debut this past fall at Reynolds Lake Oconee, offering a variety of outdoor experiences at the award-winning community located on 12,000 acres surrounded by the majestic Lake Oconee. This might just be the perfect complement to a morning of golf.
Named for the beautiful stream that flows into Lake Oconee and shapes the property’s topography, Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds is under the design direction of international shooting champion Justin Jones of Great Britain, one of the world’s foremost experts in the development and management of elite resort shooting facilities.
The Sporting Grounds complex encompasses nearly 100 acres and features a 20-station sporting clays course, five-stand shooting range and air rifle facility, as well as archery and instructional/games areas and a hiking course. The guest center will be adjacent to the existing, 1800s-era Sandy Creek Barn and a 40-acre lake.
“Not only do we have the best collection of golf courses in Georgia, but now we will have one of the most impressive sportsman’s venues in the country,” said Rabun Neal, president at Reynolds Lake Oconee. “Indeed, Reynolds Lake Oconee has it all.”
The Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds project is the latest in a multi-million-dollar improvement plan designed to touch nearly every facet of the Reynolds Lake Oconee community and resort.
The aesthetic of the 20-station Sporting Clays course is created much like a golf course. The first key element is variation and interest in the overall “hole-by-hole” layout that embraces the natural topography of the land. The clays course is laid out in a series of stations (holes) with each specifically designed to offer shot variation of length, angle and trajectory, emulating the unpredictable and challenging nature of a classic British shoot, with clays launched at a variety of speeds, trajectories, angles, elevations, and distances.
It is in such variety that shooters are challenged throughout the course with a diverse mixture of shot selections. The stands have been individually designed and created with the assistance of the Reynolds Signature Homes architectural design team. Great Britain-based Promatic International, the leading manufacturer of shooting club machinery and equipment, has been retained for its services as well, and its solar-powered units are in use throughout the course.
Certified instructors will be available for lessons, and a personal guide will accompany guests through all activities. Shooters on the sporting clays course will traverse the course in a specially-outfitted sporting clay buggy. Fishing and water sports activities (kayak, canoe, motorized paddleboards) are also available at the Sporting Grounds.
Already recognized among the “25 Best Golf Communities in North America” by GOLF Magazine, Reynolds Lake Oconee is not only building a world-class sporting facility, but is building on its long-established reputation as an outstanding place to live.
Quick 6
I had the opportunity to play Reynolds’ “Quick 6” layout recently, and it was a treat. This is an innovative idea with six holes set up for leisurely play, for the entire family. The Quick 6 offers a variety of tee box options while utilizing the existing greens on holes one, two, three, seven, eight, and nine to create the loop. None of the Quick Six holes play longer than 135 yards, so a “round” will take approximately 60 minutes. This experience is only available at the Preserve Course.
The course is designed to be fast, easy, and fun. It is perfect for golfers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy this wonderful game, and sometimes, an hour or so late in the day is just perfect. It’s a lot of fun! Tee times are available Tuesdays and Saturdays at the Reynolds Preserve Course. Cost is $40 per adult and $10 per juniors 12 and under. To secure your tee time for the Quick 6 Experience, please call Reynolds Concierge at 706.467.1111.
Get out to Reynolds this spring and enjoy all that is new.
