At long last, Run the Jewels have dropped Meow the Jewels, the cat-centric remix of their last album, RTJ2. The album is now up and available free. Download it for free here, and check out the track list below.
Meow the Jewels originated as a joke, became a Kickstarter campaign, and is now a real album. It features remixes from Just Blaze, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, Blood Diamonds, Boots, Zola Jesus, the Alchemist, Massive Attack’s 3D, and more. “Run the Jewels would like to thank our friends, fans and fam who made this record possible,” El-P and Killer Mike wrote in the liner notes. “together we have managed to do a little good using the stupidest method possible and for that we salute you.”
The album will also be available as a limited edition vinyl, with all of the profits going to charities that benefit victims of police brutality. “did we make the silliest, occasionally most grating possible remix album?” El-P wrote on Twitter. “of course. and we did it for you, mike brown and Eric garner.”
