Nothing quite like enjoying that first bite of a ripe peach. The season for the sweet treat has arrived and is always welcomed here in the Peach State. So, we teamed up with different chefs and mixologists across the State to create/animate refreshing peach drinks for you to sip for the rest of the summer. First up is @Thebeardedchef_atl and his refreshing rendition of the classic mojito, with a southern twist.
This fresh Southern Peach Mojito is the perfect balance of rum/liqueur, lime, mint and peach. Not too sweet and very refreshing.
Ingredients
- 1-½ ounce, fluid Peach Puree (You Can Make Your Own Using One Ripe Peach, See Instructions Below)
- 2 teaspoons Sugar
- 4 sprigs Mint (short Sprigs)
- 6 ounces, Club Soda
- ½ Lime, juiced
- 2 ounces, rum/liqueur of choice (I Used 100 proof Southern Comfort in the video)
Preparation To make your own peach puree: 1. Roughly chop a ripe peach (removing pit and stem) and puree in blender until no chunks remain. 2. Pour peach puree through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any skin. 1 ripe peach makes approximately 1 1/2 ounces of peach puree.
WARNING: If you do not puree your peach, you will be left with a thick/chunky drink. While still enjoyable, I personally like eating the peach chunks out of the drink, it is damn near impossible to get the muddled peach through a straw.
Southern Peach Mojito (Smooth Version):
1. Muddle sugar, lime juice, and mint with a splash of club soda in a highball glass.
2. Add rum/liqueur, peach puree, fill with ice and stir.
3. Top with the remaining club soda and garnish with a slice of peach, lime and/or a sprig of mint, if desired.
Southern Peach Mojito (Chunky Version):
1. Muddle sugar, mint, peach chunks, lime juice with a splash of club soda in a highball glass.
2. Fill glass with ice and rum/liqueur and stir.
3. Top with the remaining club soda and garnish with a slice of peach, lime and/or a sprig of mint, if desired.
