As announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this morning, Sprint customers will be able to experience 5G wireless service as early as May in Atlanta.
We’ve been waiting patiently, since it’s been about a year since Sprint announced that it would launch mobile 5G service in the U.S. in the first half of 2019.
·NETWORK: Sprint is set to launch mobile 5G, starting this May in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Kansas City. Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington D.C. will follow sometime in the first half of 2019, as promised. At launch, Sprint 5G will cover 1,000 square miles across nine markets giving true mobility to on-the-go customers.
·DEVICES: Wireless consumers will have lots of choices for 5G devices at launch Sprint will launch LG V50 ThinQ 5G as its first 5G device this spring. In addition, Sprint is the exclusive U.S. carrier of HTC 5G Hub. Launching this spring, it brings smooth video streaming, lower-latency, virtually buffer-free gaming and 5G mobile hotspot connectivity for up to 20 users. Sprint also has plans to launch Samsung Galaxy S10 5G this summer.
·GAMING: 5G will supercharge mobile entertainment experiences across the board – including gaming. Sprint is collaborating with cloud gaming pioneer, Hatch Entertainment, to deliver mobile game streaming to Sprint 5G customers. With this collaboration, Sprint will provide access to more than 100 premium mobile games, live social gaming and tournaments and a robust portfolio of content for kids.
