If you haven’t noticed, Clayton County and the surrounding areas are growing. Tensar is playing an important role.
Tensar International realizes that infrastructure issues are a big topic of conversation around the country and they are taking steps to help. It is increasing capacity at its Morrow, Georgia manufacturing facility in response to customer demand for its geogrid products. Tensar is bringing an additional 35% of production capacity on line by early 2018. Significant growth in Tensar’s TriAx® line of geogrid products and customer requests for new variants of these and other products have also prompted Tensar’s further investment in research and development capabilities at the Morrow plant.
This is good news as geogrids are relatively rigid polymer meshes used to stabilize and improve the performance of sub-soils below roads and other types of infrastructure. Tensar’s geogrid products allow transportation infrastructure organizations to decrease construction time and economically build better performing and longer lasting roads and structures. Tensar invented and patented the first geogrid and remains the world’s leading producer. As we witnessed here in Atlanta, one infrastructure problem is one too many.
“Departments of transportation, infrastructure contractors and civil engineers across the U.S. are now making geogrid technology an essential part of every road and highway project where cost, quality and sustainability matter,” said Scott Edgecombe, EVP & GM, Western Hemisphere for Tensar International. “This customer growth has led to our commitment to enhance our Morrow plant capacity, quality and innovation capabilities,” he added.
Throughout the evolution of geogrid technology, Tensar International has invested in extensive third party research and testing with major test institutes in the North America. In addition to increasing production capacity, Tensar’s Morrow facility is embedding real time/lean six sigma methodologies across its operations and enhancing its R&D rapid prototyping capabilities and testing equipment. As a result, Tensar’s Morrow plant will be a prime driver of next generation geotechnical solutions for transportation infrastructure and other applications and will have the substantial capacity needed to supply its growing markets.
Tensar’s production facility has been located in Morrow, Clayton County Georgia – close to the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport – for over 30 years. It is one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the global geogrid industry and maintains a world-class safety record. The plant will continue its function and grow as a 100% US-owned, operated and staffed facility.
