Atlanta has become the mecca of international foods over the years and if you need a place to itch that adventurous itch, check out these ten restaurants.
10. Imperial Fez
From special occasions to dates, the Imperial Fez gives you the flavor and culture of Morocco. Belly dancers, fire dancing and authentic meals, Imperial Fez thrusts you into the vibrant hum of the Moroccan culture.
2285 Peachtree Road Northwest, 102 Atlanta, GA
9. Taverna Plaka
If in need for a fun time with some friends on a Friday night, Taverna Plaka is the place to be. Providing that you’re 18, the coals in the hookahs are always stocked, belly dancers grooving around and the food is as Greek as it gets.
2196 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE Atlanta, GA
8. Panahar
Often the best exotic restaurants lie in secluded spots, much like Panahar. Providing Bangladeshi cuisine in the strip mall of Northeast Plaza the exterior is nothing to write home about until you step inside. A relatively cheap buffet for some real Indian food in a sort of hole-in-the-wall setting is the true Atlanta experience.
Northeast Plaza, 3375 Buford Hwy NE Atlanta, GA 30329
7. La Fonda Latina
When in dire need of some fresh summer air and city renowned salsa, La Fonda is the ultimate spot. Frozen margaritas and the Southern breeze on those hot summer days should be enough of a reason to visit this tried and true restaurant.
2813 Peachtree Rd NW Atlanta, GA 30305
6. Tuk Tuk Thai
If your scene isn’t the gritty unknown restaurants of Atlanta, Tuk Tuk Thai takes fine dining to another level. Overlooking Peachtree with an ambiance to be rivaled, the meals are a variety of smaller dishes that parallel to Bangkok street food. If that can’t convince you, the fact that Tuk Tuk has been voted one of the finest Thai restaurants in the nation should do the trick.
Brookwood Place On Peachtree 1745 Peachtree St NE Atlanta, GA 30309
5. Panita
While not nationally ranked like Tuk Tuk, Panita gives you something a little funkier. A small restaurant with the interior and exterior designed as an island, you’re transported to a different place. The food is served in a hollowed out fruit bowls like papayas along with an array of spices and seasonings to the food.
1043 Greenwood Ave NE Atlanta, GA
4. Rumi’s Kitchen
An excellent place to go for Persian cuisine, you can find that the food is fantastic, but does run up quite the bill. An outdoor patio for those warmer days and some of the best Persian food you can grab in Atlanta.
6112 Roswell Rd Atlanta, GA 30328
3. Himalayan Spice
Certainly one of the more exotic places, Himalayan Spice comes straight from Nepal. The two friends and owners of this restaurant, Sujit and Dilip, met in Nepal where Dilip owned a restaurant. They moved to the good ol’ USA and started up one of the finest Indian/Nepalese restaurants in Atlanta.
Williamsburg Village Ltd 2773 Clairmont Rd NE Atlanta, GA
2. Meskerem
Right by Himalayan Spice, Meskerem offers the chance to eat some serious Ethiopian food. Language barriers pop up here and there, but that’s only a testament to the authenticity of this place.
2781 Clairmont Road Atlanta, GA
1. Desta Ethiopian
A personal favorite of mine, Desta has always been the spot to go for some good food and good ambience. A little crowded and just as Meskerem and surely an exotic restaurant you go to, language barriers happen. Nevertheless, you leave with a full stomach and leftovers for the next day.
