May is finally here and I know we all can’t wait for the summer kickbacks, festivals and concerts. The pre-game for the summer always kicks off with Memorial Day Weekend!! While you’re out at your holiday festivities (which means no sleep and 3 outfits – day party, cookout, and club fit) This is your moment to be ready with the hottest tracks to have on your playlist. Just for when the DJ is not up to par, make sure you are.
Rich Homie Quan – Flex
RHQ has dropped one of his many Mixtapes to come this summer, Royal Rich. As usual, there is many anthems to choose from but Flex tops my list as the hottest song now. If you know Quan you already know he will be dropping a mixtape every other week, so my best advice is to keep your ears open. Rich is back.
Fresh out the county Meeky drops a hot single Monster off of his upcoming #DWMTM album, coming this summer. Of course he is talking about what all of this money has done to his ego, as if it wasn’t already out of control and monstrous. But you can’t ignore the fact he makes hits. And he seems to spend a lot on dinner these days. No more noodles and tuna.
Drake – 6 Man
Well… If Youre Reading This Its Not Too Late to add this song to your playlist! I mean, who needs to tell you to add anything with Aubrey Drizzy Drake on it. 6 Man is one of those tracks that will make you believe your bank account lookin’ like Lou Will’s. Ask anybody.
Cool Amerika – Make Sum Shake
Rap Duo’s are making a comeback as Atlanta’s Cool Amerika proves again, a simple hook with trap diction wins. It’s one of my favorite songs going into the summer. As the city spins the track lets see if they can “make sum shake” on the charts.
Young Thug Ft. T.I & Boosie – Can’t Tell
Thugger Thugger debuted his latest album, Barter 6, which we all know is a knockoff to Wayne’s Carter 6, but none the less, he delivers. Can’t Tell is the re-up to T.I’s “If It Ain’t About The Money.” Hot tracks are hot tracks, regardless of his shenanigans.
Migos – One Time
Who else is better than Migos when it comes to Summer Anthems? One Time for Migos bringing us another reason to parlay at any function. Now lets also pray One Time for their legal run-ins.
Young Dro – We In Da City
Bankhead’s own Young Dro always give the city a reason to stay loyal to his music. We In Da City is a top summer hit, the beat is indescribable, and Dro’s antics on the track is what we all have been waiting for.
Chedda Da Connect – Flicka Da Wrist
It only takes one day for a track to take off. Flicka Da Wrist is a testament to that. It’s catching a lot of buzz right now and for great reason, we all love hand motions. Chedda dropped his official video on World Star recently, pushing the track and the 360 wrist around the country.
T-Wayne (Rickie Wayne) – Nasty Freestyle
T-Wayne AKA Ricky Wayne freestyles over the Bandit Gang Marco’s song “Nasty”.You can be standing anywhere and then “First Let Me Hop Out the MF’n Porsche…” drops, i guarantee the spot will turn upside down. Call it a freestyle gone “nasty” viral.
Sage The Gemini Ft. Trey Songz – Guantanamera
Sage The Gemini comes back around after his successful “Red Nose” track took over in 2014. “Guantanamera” drops at the right time as he teamed up with Mr. Steal Your Girl himself, Trigga Trey… Smart Move. The crazy beat produced by P-Lo & Mark Nilan Jr. deserves a loud round of applause.
French Montana Ft. Jeremih, Rick Ross & Fabolous – Bad B*** Remix
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9I5dxqQi9c
As if the original isn’t enough, Here comes the Remix!! I couldn’t have picked these features better myself, Rozay and Fab coast on this track. I didn’t think it could get any better. I was wrong.
K Camp Ft. Chris Brown – Lil Bit Remix
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awH7P5i34dw
K Camp is always on any playlist that involves a function. North ATL’s-own knows how to be consistent and deliver. To make it even better he put Chris Brown on the remix. Lil Bit is a refreshed version of “Money Baby” that took over the airwaves in 2013. As long as he keeps teaming up with producer Big Fruit I know the hits will keep coming.
Future – Real Sisters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjfEa9riwO8
Anytime you put Future and Zaytoven together its a wrap. “Real Sisters” is a banger off of Future’s latest Mixtape Beast Mode. Atlanta rappers always drop multiple Mixtapes throughout the year, so I will be expecting plenty of crazy tracks from Hendrix this summer. This is just a sample.
Fetty Wap – Trap Queen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_kF4zLNKio
#2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs in the country is Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen. This track took over the airwaves and continues to strive for platinum status. You can not go anywhere without hearing this song. Get use to it this summer, it’s not going anywhere.
