AMERICUS — Two law enforcement officers were seriously wounded in shootings in Americus this morning, according to officials.
“We have two officers that have been shot this morning,” Chief Mark Scott of the Americus Police Department said about 10:45 a.m. today. “One was from the Americus Police Department and one was from the Georgia Southwestern State University Police Department.
According to officials, the shootings are related and the officers involved sustained serious injuries.
Georgia Southwestern State is currently on lock down, according to Stephen Snyder, director of university relations.
