Popular sushi restaurant Umi Sushi in Buckhead is under fire after a video was posted yesterday showing a African American man being kicked out of the establishment for wearing sneakers.
Umi Sushi does have a dress code posted on their website that says sneakers are not allowed. The problem is, a Caucasian woman was seen sitting at the bar wearing sneakers as well and was not forced to leave.
The man’s wife noticed the unfair treatment and started recording.

Social media users are up in arms about the discrimination and now are asking for African Americans to stop patronizing the business all together.
Here’s a screenshot of their policy posted on their website.
GAFollowers has reached out to the wife and she’s explained that the owner of Umi Sushi has reached out and apologized for the treatment and offered a free dinner.
