After a successful launch in 2017, USTA Southern is giving tennis players what they want and are expanding their Family Tennis Night offerings.
With a goal of introducing new families to the sport of tennis, USTA Southern will offer their Family Tennis Night series in May, June and July.
All events are free to the public. Those interested are asked to sign up at FamilyTennisNight.com.
Three dozen, 90-minute events are planned at 15 facilities in six of the nine states that encompass USTA Southern, the largest of USTA’s 17 sections.
Georgia events will be conducted in Gainesville and Stone Mountain (three sessions each), along with one each in Acworth, Marietta and Powder Springs.
Promoting the events will include schools, community bulletin boards, social media advertising and digital influencers. Much of the communication in certain markets will be distributed through elementary school communications, designed to connect with students and families who have never played the game.
Think of this as a gathering where tennis coaches, pros and volunteers will introduce families to tennis through a series of fun activities — including elementary skills like bouncing a ball on a racquet – along with providing local programming. No tennis experience is required; it is preferred that participants have not played!
“Too often tennis marketing targets current tennis players. Based on our great successes with our first Family Tennis Nights last year, we have decided to continue stepping outside of the core tennis community and employ new methods to attract families who haven’t played tennis,” said USTA Southern Director of Sales & Marketing Shelby Fitzpatrick. “We hope they like tennis and the family theme that they add tennis as a family activity.” If you would like to learn more about sponsorship, contact Fitzpatrick.
