VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) – Valdosta drug bust led police to find about $800,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop that was concealed in the roof of a car.
Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine told the Valdosta Daily Times that authorities stopped a 2007 Ford Taurus on Interstate-75 Friday and learned that the driver’s license was suspended. Deputies asked the driver for permission to search the car and investigators say they found a button that hydraulically opened a hidden compartment on the roof.
Investigators say Glenn Cruz of Homestead, Fla. was arrested after authorities found cocaine in the secret compartment. Prine says the car Cruz was driving was customized to transport drugs and has been impounded.
Cruz is charged with cocaine trafficking and it’s unclear if he has an attorney.
