Video of a small child being paddled at a Georgia school is going viral on social media.
The video shows two school workers at Jasper County Primary School restraining the boy and using a paddle to hit his backside.
Filming the video was the boy’s mother, Shana Perez, who said on Facebook that she had to allow the punishment or she might face jail time for truancy.
According to a WSB-TV report, Perez had already been arrested once this year after her son, age 5, missed 18 days of school.
School officials told WSB that there was nothing illegal in the video but that the district is investigating the incident.
Perez told the station that her son was punished for spitting at a fellow student.
