UPDATE: Authorities have charged William Scaffidi of animal cruelty and failure to have a license to own a pet in Fulton County after a video of him setting off fireworks near his dog went viral.
According to Fulton County Animal Services it was Scaffidi’s 13 year old daughter who actually posted the video on Facebook tagging her father.
According to 11Alive’s report, Scaffidi allegedly told Fulton County Animal Services that, “he though the prank would be funny, and didn’t think the dog would be that scared.”
Scaffidi has a court date July 26 in Fulton County Magistrate Court. The judge can fine him up to $500, make him surrender the dog and prevent him from ever owning animals in Fulton County again. He could also jail him for up to 6 months.
Atlanta resident William Scaffidi is under a lot of scrutiny after posting a video on the 4th of July setting off fireworks. While this does sound typical, Scaffidi really upset people when he ignited the fireworks right over his own dog.
People left comments under the video calling for him to be arrested for animal cruelty and stating that he didn’t deserve to be a pet owner.
According to his LinkedIn profile, William Scaffidi is the president of Phoenix Realty.
