To be an artist it takes courage, talent, love, and dedication. To be a great artist, you have to be well rounded. You must give freely of yourself, take risks, and be able to connect with people on all different levels. Yo’ Sista is the epitome of an exceptional artist! She is just as unique and creative as her birth name Cassaundra Diane’e (no error, pronounced Diane). She was destined from the beginning to stand out from among the rest!
Yo’ Sista is a traveling spoken word artist, author, host, hip hop, and visual artist residing in Canton, GA. She is originally from Hagerstown, MD. She exudes advocacy, women empowerment, love, and harmony! In a fit of rebellion, she moved to Georgia as a teenager and considers Georgia home. Yo’ Sista once told me “There’s not much in life that can’t be handled with a baseball bat. If you keep swinging the bat, you are bound to hit home runs.” This is exactly how Yo’ Sista is elevating to the top of her game!
You have to be a beast to rise to the top of the artistry community in the Atlanta area. This city is engulfed with a sea of incredible talent. Yo’ Sista has a very impressive resume. Just to highlight a few of her recent accomplishments, she the is recipient of the 2017 ICON Award honoree at Tamika Festival awarded by Def Poetry’s Tamika GeorgiaMe Harper. Yo’ Sista’s poetry journey has taken her from some of the largest stages in Atlanta such as performing at Center Stage ATL and Georgia State Capitol to performing shows in states across the east coast. Her book “Yo’ Sista’s Keeper A Collection of Poetry, Short Stories, and Other Stuff was released in the summer 2015” She is currently working on her anticipated debut poetry album “Sriracha & Sweet Tea”.
Yo’ Sista has an extensive resume. Her awards, accolades, and talent makes her an accomplished artist. However, its her loving heart, passion, and sincerity that makes her a great artist. The countless hours that Yo’ Sista dedicates to mentoring and making a difference in the lives of others is commendable. Yo’ Sista told me that “Writing, painting, volunteering, and performing are a display of hope, passion, and liberty.”
Yo’ Sista speaks on a wide spectrum of subjects for a variety of audiences. There are times that call for advocacy, times that call for healing or inspiration, and times that just call for a good laugh. Equipped with a dynamic delivery and a no nonsense approach to the truth, she offers any audience a chance to escape the world and take a journey on self discovery. She connects with the audience on a deeper level. Yo’ Sista is not just a poet, just a painter, or just a brand. Yo’ Sista is an experience that will resonate with you for a lifetime! Yo’ Sista is currently booking for the summer of 2017.
